Dr. Donna Housman is the founder and CEO of Housman Learning (formerly Housman Institute), based in Newton, Massachusetts. With over thirty years of experience in child psychology, education, and research, she has spent her career studying how young children develop emotional intelligence, and how parents and educators can nurture it.

Dr. Housman created begin to ECSEL, an evidence based training program that gives educators research driven tools to build emotional intelligence in themselves and in their classrooms. Her research on emotional competence and self regulation from birth has been published in a peer reviewed journal, and she has spoken at Harvard University and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

She is also the author of a children’s book series exploring emotional intelligence through storytelling, including titles like Riley’s Really Big Worries and Franklin’s World Takes a Turn, written to help children and the adults who care for them talk through big feelings.

Dr. Housman’s work and commentary have appeared in HuffPost, USA Today, Fox News, Yahoo News, and other national outlets, and she writes a recurring parenting advice column, Ask Dr. Donna.
