Our program includes self-paced professional learning & training where educators are supported every step of the way.

Our Unique Evidence-Based ECSEL Approach

1 Promoting Healthy Brain Development from Birth and Beyond
  • Although children are born ready to learn—equipped with emotion as their first language—the skills for controlling impulses, regulating emotions, and maintaining focus are not innate.
  • Positive emotional learning experiences, together with empathetic and supportive relationships, strengthen neurological connections in fostering healthy brain development. When children are better able to manage intense emotions, their brain’s resources are better able to perform important executive function skills, such as attention, working memory, and problem-solving—all essential for learning.

For educators and caregivers to be able to model and guide children to deal successfully with their emotions, they must first be able to understand and manage their own emotions, stress, and anxiety.

The begin to ECSEL® training program offers a strong system of reflective practice and ongoing support through our mentoring, coaching and global online shared community platform.

With the begin to ECSEL®- program, educators address the causes of dysregulated emotions and behaviors to promote behavioral change while fostering agency and self-control.

Building essential skills, including empathy, prosocial behaviors, acceptance, perspective taking, compassion, and kindness, promotes character and moral development.

Our research proves children who experience the begin to ECSEL® program significantly outperform their peers nationally in key measures of emotional competence, self-regulation, empathy, executive functions and academic achievement.

The begin to ECSEL® strategies extend to home, guiding parents in fostering responsive relationships by underscoring their critical understanding of their emotional responses and the importance of modeling emotional regulation.
