Supporting Educators’ Emotional Well-Being

Our online professional learning course “Educators’ Emotional Well-Being” helps individual educators manage personal stress and improve overall mental health & well-being.

Why It Matters

Children develop through relationships with key adults. As a role model and key socializer, you need the tools to manage your own emotions to model emotional regulation for children and support their emotional, cognitive, and social development.

The Impact

Teaching can be stressful. When educators can better regulate their own emotions, they’re more effective in supporting children’s emotional needs and teaching daily lessons.

The result: Less stressed teachers and calmer children who are ready to learn and better perform academically.

Inside the Course

What You’ll Learn

Helping children manage their emotions starts with understanding ourselves, which is the foundation of healthy
relationships and interactions. We developed our Educators’ Emotional Well-Being online course with 5 modules, allowing
you to complete them on your own time in 2 hours.

Course Overview

icono   Module 1 : Building Blocks of Emotional Intelligence

In this module, you are going to learn about the building blocks of emotional intelligence: what they are, how they are used, and why they matter.

In this module, you are going to learn and understand the importance of educator’s own emotionality and how to become self-aware in one’s own emotions.

In this module, you will learn about the three types of stress, the cause of stress and its impact on our lives. You will be introduced with some useful strategies to manage stress and to be able to implement them in your lives.

In this module, you will understand several techniques used to enhance educators’ own emotionality and to deal with stress. These techniques include physiological regulation, mindfulness practices, and self-reflective journaling.

In this module, you will learn more about Reflective Practice as a way to build trusting relationships and understand emotionality or your own and others.

When you complete the program, you will better
understand:

  • Your own emotional intelligence
  • The foundation of healthy relationships and interactions with children
  • Stress’s impact on mental and physical health
  • Self-regulation and mindfulness techniques

Testimonials

What people say about Us.

“I’ve definitely heard LifeSpan Center was talking about how it made a difference in their CDA program. I’ve definitely heard from programs that they felt more confident when completing their CLASS assessment, and for me, that’s huge.”
Erin
VP of Strategic Initiatives
“The process and the whole ECSEL program taught me that the kids need to know their emotions and understand their emotions. We are in a decade where we talk so much about emotions and mental health when we get older, but why not start when we are younger?”
Kalicia
Teacher
“[Begin to ECSEL] is based on research, but it’s also steeped in evidence and that’s really important. Not a lot of things in the early learning space really come together with evidence and research, so that sets it apart.”
Aruna
Chief Program and Policy Officer
"Begin to ECSEL has shaped teachers' understanding of not only their own emotional responses and reactions but the behaviors and underlying emotions of the children in their classrooms. The interactive courses, mentorship opportunities, and coaching calls create a community of support. I'm excited to see more of this!"
